CD

Cousin Dearest stayed in Seattle while I left for Ann Arbor. Earlier today I was chatting with him on MSN, and we talked about my new mac, his lost SIM card, how fucked up he’s been without a phone or a computer mike (can’t call Dominos, had to fast for the night since nobody’s home either), and how bizzare he felt when the tmobile guy didn’t even ask for his ID when he got the new SIM card. Well he’s happy they didn’t cause the phone’s under my name and he wouldn’t be able to get his SIM had they asked for identification.

I laughed so hard on this other end of the computer… I am starting to miss my old home, starting to miss my dearest CD! Sometimes I just take him for granted and forgot he’s been the consistent anchor in my life, be it his funny antics or his everlasting Singlish accent (yes OMG 2 years out of the island and its still thick!)

I better go back Seattle soon to check on him. Make sure he’s not lost and all… Heh maybe he misses me too, fingers crossed.

From MacBook with Love

Tuesday, 18 September, 2007

I am writing this blog post from my first virgin mac ever.

Closer friends of mine would know that I’ve reently purchased a White Macbook in leue of the back to college special. My Mac arrived today, and I can use it straight out the box. A little configuration here and there and, viola! I’m connected to the internet, updated some softwares, and now I’m blogging through Safari.

The magic is swallowing me in, my friends. For now stay tuned for more magical testimony (as much as I hate their marketing schemes) of Apple’s macbook and maybe you can help me choose a girl’s name for my macbook. Something that rhymes with “serene” or “book” or “orgasmic”.

Fire away guys!

I need to:

Monday, 17 September, 2007

  • Have more friends for myself.
  • Pay more attention to my habits. Discipline myself when it comes to academic matters.
  • Start taking more photos before Denise collect more dust.
  • Work out. Panda express meals aren’t exactly helping either.
  • Get a car.
  • Start thinking on subsidizing my school tuition fee. I’m paying too much, darn it.
  • Keep my sanity amidst all these roller coaster rides…

The Super Achiever

Monday, 10 September, 2007

Browsing through facebook and friendster, I just found out that my long-losy brother Andrie in Melbourne isn’t only doing well in school, but is active in a soccer club and is a bass player for a band, Fresh Brown Wasabi.

Check out some of their songs here, here and here. He’s the one to the right on the lead singer.

Pretty cool for a brother, don’tcha think?

Seattle Ann arbor Seattle Ann Arbor

Monday, 10 September, 2007

One of the more common questions people ask me these days is where I am from. After I told them I’m from Seattle, and I swear I’m not making this up, their reply will always be “Oh that’s so wonderful. So why did you come here?” And then they give me that dude-you’re-either-Lucifer-or-just-plain-stupid look.

I know my geography OK. Seattle nice place, I know that OK. Ann Arbor has horrible winters, I know that also OK… No need to gimme that look, OK!

Fuck you, Apple.

Friday, 7 September, 2007

I love you. I hate you. Its very very complicated between us now. You tell me, how am I supposed to sell an old iPod? Who in their right state of mind wants to buy a $149 OLD iPod from me?

Yeah, fuck all of your customers, Apple. Because as much as I hate you, I’ll still throw my $$$ at you anyway.

So here’s the story. 2 days ago they came up with the new iPods right. The new nano, classic and touch, right. And then now they came up with a disclaimer in the “Back to school” promo FAQ saying hey idiots, guess what you’re not going to get our new iPods for free. Those smartass fuckers. The thing is, the promo is valid till 9/16, but the oLDpods aren’t even up in the online store anymore. Basically, from now till 9/16 if you want a Mac and a free oldpod, you’ll have to call the Apple hotline and tell the support guy your Mac specification, what ipod memory size and color you want, what printer model you want… Bunch of fuckers I tell you. Apple, if not for OSX I’ve already boycotted you entirely, so yeah go ahead sneer in glee… You’re the idiot who’s going to lose all your customers one day. One day.

Dude, the new iPods rock ass.

…Have you seen it?

iPhone’s cheaper too. Have you seen it?

I need a girlfriend, not.

Monday, 3 September, 2007

Funny but as much as I appreciate ogling at girls, getting a girlfriend at this point in time just sound wrong. I mean, I’ve got great housemates who cracks me up every deca-second, a new school and new friends. I have to look for scholarships and research opportunities. I’ve got to make sure my sister gets the support she needs for in applying for schools. I’ve got to think of my future - Do I want to do master or work? If work, where?

So yeah, who needs a girlfriend?

Bali-185

Tanah Lot - Bali, Indonesia

Sunday, 2 September, 2007

If anyone would ask me what’s so special about Bali, first thing I’m gonna do is smack this picture on his/her face. Bali really is a wonderful place to be, be it on vacation or staying permanently. There’s just something in the water there. The culture, the sandy beaches, the spectacular history and scenery, the girls, and oh my goodness the people are always happy and hospitable there!

Seriously dude, go to Bali already.

Day 10 in Ann Arbor

Sunday, 2 September, 2007

… And the adrenaline rush has not slowed down either.

Keller has finally arrived. As sweet as Keller is, she brought me to IKEA. There’s this bigass 5-shelves BILLY bookshelf that was cheap and spacious. Both of us were going to get it, but alas nabei people in Michigan also so kiasu, sweep finish all the good deals. But despite that I’m already $150++ poorer.

I followed Evelyn to the recreational sports expo, and tonight at 5pm I’m supposed to turn up for a field hockey training. But in actual fact I’m alone in this computer lab writing this blog post… WITH MY SPORTS CLOTHINGS ON. Bum.

Things aren’t getting better with the roommates. I know, I know. They’re decent people. They’re awesome cool people. They cook, they’re neat, they are smart and good in sports. It’s just that 1 of them is a worse prick than DY. There are countless  times when I felt like slapping him across the cheek. But no, I’m a civil person. Plus he’s got bigger biceps than I.

Today I finally got to meet the ever-so-helpful Ted Chen.  We conversed on life in Ann Arbor, plans after graduating, Macs, Singapore and others. I need to remind him in the future that he promised to Appreciate the chat, dude. Uh and good luck with the “search” ah.

For the 2 days to come I think I’ll be hiding at home, preparing meals for the next 4-5 days to come, nailing in picture frames to the wall and start reviewing the textbooks (they costs $500+, curses).

So, fingers crossed and pray I’m OK. Deep breath.
