What have I been doing?

Saturday, 16 September, 2006

1.  Reading triller novels, the likes of John Grisham’s “The Firm” and Tom Clancy’s “Sum of All Fears”.

2. Trying to be a good driver on Cirebon’s street.

3. Trying out the gizmos that I’ve purchased from Comex, namely the memory card reader and the USB Bluetooth.

4. Sleeping a helluva lot since life goes much slower down here. (56K to be exact)

5. Being an Editor at Pink.sg.

6. Formulating some dodgy theories of earning my first million before I hit 30.

7. Contemplating contacting my supervisor and colleagues in school regarding my job description. Contemplating…

8. Paying overdued utility bills.

9. Looking up cheap textbooks online.

10. Travelling to Central Java on business, recreation and family visiting all rolled up in one.

Steps:

  1. Get out of the driver’s seat of your Dad’s car, taking the key along. Then lock the whole car.
  2. Realized that you haven’t closed all four car windows.
  3. Bent down into the wheel and plugged the key in, then rolled all four windows up.
  4. “Uh Dad, do you have a spare key to your Civic?”

Conversation Over Dinner

Saturday, 16 September, 2006

Me: Mom, you know when we (Dad and I) were in Yogjakarta, we met Uncle Pin’s children. Umm… The oldest daughter is not bad looking.

Mum: Ahh, so you like her?

Me: I mean, she looks OKAY.

Dad: You know what, just say the word from you and I can help you 2 hook up. Uncle Pin wouldn’t mind. I’ll tell him for you.

Funny how one year ago I had to pretend to be sleeping to avoid going through hours of lecture about how I should be focussing on my studies, on how to choose a good partner for myself, and about how one can be messed up from choosing the wrong “one”. Now they can’t wait for me to be attached.
